Google+ Local Help

With the new changes Google+ Local has replaced Google Places in the blended Maps search results. Or Google Plus Local.

The first option is to go to the Google Product Forums – Google and Your Business  and try the Help Articles. For some issues like Pending Review you may find an answer in the Google+ Local Help Forum.  You need to be aware posts in there are indexed so use shortened URLs and do not give emails.

If you are making a new Google Places entry, which shows as a Google Plus Local page, I do the technical support for a Google Places Ebook which is a comprehensive guide to making a good entry compliant to all of the hidden rules as well.  I offer 15 minutes of consultancy with the purchase for advice and troubleshooting.

Soon the current search Google+ Local page which is driven by the current Places entry will be replaced by it merging, or creating for you, with your matching Google+ (Local) Business page set up in your Google+ Profile.

Google

Google has many products but the one I do Expert Professional Help and Support for is Google Places for Business.

Here you can set up a description of your entity at a location which can be a public, charity or business location.

Google have monetised the searches via Adwords Express and Adwords so there can be problems where multiple business uses of a location clash with the initial Local product which became Maps.  The Maps are a layer over Google Earth which adds mapping information.  Each Google Places entry has a pointer in Maps positioning it on Google Earth and linking to Street Views of your location.

To confuse matters Google Places is being served a Google+ Local pages at the moment.  This is a first step to merging your entry with a Google+ Profile new local Google+ Business page.

You can either set up a Google Profile in your Places email account and then add the local Business page or wait for Google to set these up for you.

By making the move to Google+ Business pages they are encouraging you to use the social Circles on which Google+ is based.

Google Places powers Online Business

Over 60% of searches use Google Places to power your online business.

We are about to move to a new world where Google+ Business is the power behind your new social world.

Circles are the new way to organise your connections in your online world.  You can choose who to share content with.  Customers, suppliers, prospects, peer group and so on.

Dentists, Lawyers and Doctors seem to be the pointed end of Googles new Plus+ world.  They alone will have personal Business+ pages which will never die throughout their career.

One issue I do not see addressed yet is how does a professionals Business+ page get transferred from one office to another.  Will the Circles copy across as well. Will the office have some ownership rights of relationships made during the membership of a professional.

What is left behind of the professionals Business+ page, marked as ‘Closed’ or will there be start and end date stamps?
